1. Revelation 5:13 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

To whom is the song of all creation directed?

Revelation 5:13 (ESV)

13 And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying, “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!”

The songs of the living creatures and the elders (Revelation 5:9) and from the angels (Revelation 5:12) were directed to the Lamb. Back in Revelation 4:8 and Revelation 4:11, the living creatures and the elders had directed their praise to the one who sat on the throne (God). But now every creature directs their praise to both “him who sits on the throne” (God) and to “the Lamb” (Jesus Christ). He who extended the scroll and he who took the scroll receive equal praise.
