Ezra 5—6 begins with a narrative, telling us what happened in the second year of the reign of Darius, king of Persia (Ezra 5:1–5). When then have two letters, one sent by a local governor, Tattenai, to King Darius (Ezra 5:6–17) and an answer from the king (Ezra 6:1–12). Chapter 6 then finishes with an extended narrative (Ezra 6:13–22).
