Amos 5:1–27 (ESV)

1 Hear this word that I take up over you in lamentation, O house of Israel:

Amos 5:1–27 is a lament meant to emphasize the certainty of the destruction that would come if the Israelites continue in their present way of life. Their only hope of escape is to repent from their sins and seek the Lord.1 He is their Creator, Sustainer, and Judge.
