The source of true wisdom lies not within ourselves, but outside of ourselves, in God’s revelation. This he gives to us in his Word and in the rest of his works. Let us therefore not trust in our own depraved minds. This counts also for our faith life. What matters is not our own judgment of ourselves, but what God says about us in Jesus Christ. If we forget this and start to focus on our own faith experiences, we are on a dark and anxiety-ridden path. Wisdom delivers us from this spiritual danger, and from countless other dangers.
26 Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered.
