Where was Karnaim and why is it mentioned?

Amos 6:13 (ESV)

13 you who rejoice in Lo-debar, who say, “Have we not by our own strength captured Karnaim for ourselves?”

Karnaim was a town located over halfway from Samaria to Damascus. The name itself means double horned. Both Lo-debar and Karnaim were captured in campaigns by Jeroboam II (2 Kings 14:28) thanks to the Lord’s help. Israel, however, saw this as evidence of her own greatness.1
