4And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth,to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem,because he was of the house and lineage of David,
Joseph went here because he belonged to the house and line of David (Ruth 4:17–22; 1 Samuel 16:1–13; Micah 5:2). God is fulfilling his promises to the house of David (Isaiah 11:1–2; Jeremiah 23:5; Jeremiah 33:15; also Acts 13:22–23; Revelation 5:5).
