Amos is given a final vision describing in detail how the Lord will exact judgment on Israel (Amos 9:1–4). This judgment will be thorough and final and it is guaranteed to take place because the Lord is glorious and no one can escape his presence (Amos 9:5–6). The fact that Israel has enjoyed covenant relationship with God will not excuse them from judgment (Amos 9:7–10). All sinners who rebel against God will be destroyed, but a final remnant will be spared. Despite the destruction, God will one day bring about a restoration. The Messiah will come to rule over a perfect kingdom (Amos 9:11–15).
