During the reigns of Uzziah and Jeroboam II, it appears as if the northern kingdom of Israel, as well as the southern kingdom of Judah, enjoyed a time of political stability and economic prosperity (2 Kings 14:17 – 15:7 and 2 Chronicles 26:1–23). Specifically, the territory of Israel and Judah was expanded to encompass almost all the land held during the time of David and Solomon, just as Jonah had prophesied (2 Kings 14:25).
