The creatures of heaven are continually in the presence of God and so they know his majesty and divinity in a way no creatures on earth do. Moreover, these creatures of heaven have witnessed what has earlier happened in heaven (think of the Lamb taking the scroll from the Lord’s hand, Revelation 5:1–14) and so can act upon that knowledge. Upon the sounding of the seventh trumpet, the creatures of heaven give voice to what they know from firsthand experience about God and his Christ: his kingdom is absolutely assured for all times because there is no force in all creation able to dethrone him. This conviction on the part of the inhabitants of heaven is deeply encouraging for John and his readers in light of what else he’ll see as a result of this seventh trumpet.
15 Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he shall reign forever and ever.”
