Its haughty words were directed against the Lord God, the very God of glory praised in the songs of the heavenly creatures of Revelation 4:8, Revelation 4:11, and Revelation 11:16–18. In blaspheming God, the beast curses God’s name (reputation) as well as his dwelling (a reference to heaven (Revelation 15:5), or perhaps the church (1 Corinthians 3:16)) and those who dwell in God’s dwelling (angels and departed saints). So where God is commonly praised, this beast hurtles his blasphemies.
