8And I looked, and behold, a pale horse! And its rider’s name was Death, and Hades followed him. And they were given authority over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by wild beasts of the earth.
The term “Hades” appears in the Greek translation of the Old Testament for the Hebrew word “Sheol.” It is the realm of the dead, the land of darkness where God is not remembered (see Psalm 6:5; Psalm 115:17; Isaiah 5:14).
8 And I looked, and behold, a pale horse! And its rider’s name was Death, and Hades followed him. And they were given authority over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by wild beasts of the earth.
