The white robe symbolized the souls’ status before God as persons washed in Jesus’ blood, and therefore righteous and pure in the eyes of God (see also Revelation 3:4; Revelation 7:9). On earth they were rejected and slain by those who hated the Lord, but in heaven the Lord embraces them as his own.
11 Then they were each given a white robe and told to rest a little longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brothers should be complete, who were to be killed as they themselves had been.
