The term translated here as “shelter” appears also in John 1:14 to indicate that the Word‑become‑flesh “dwelt” among sinners. Literally, the word means “to pitch a tent” or “to tabernacle” (KJV). Hence the idea of God living with the survivors of the great tribulation as their protector or shelter.
15 “Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence.
