What does the term “shelter” convey?

Revelation 7:15 (ESV)

15 “Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence.

The term translated here as “shelter” appears also in John 1:14 to indicate that the Word‑become‑flesh “dwelt” among sinners. Literally, the word means “to pitch a tent” or “to tabernacle” (KJV). Hence the idea of God living with the survivors of the great tribulation as their protector or shelter.
