Ever since the fall into sin, demons could claim humanity as their domain, even to the point of possessing a person. A legion of demons met Jesus in the country of the Gerasenes, but they hid themselves behind a human face in the person of the possessed man (see Luke 8:26). “Human faces” are our kind of creatures, those within our comfort zone, those with whom we relate. But if there are actually demons behind the human faces, it is typical hellish deception.
