The Holy Spirit wants us to know that John obeyed both aspects of the mighty angel’s command in Revelation 10:9; he obediently “took” the little scroll from the hand of the mighty angel and then he “ate” it. The fact that John did so underscores that the significance of this scroll lies not in its content but in its being eaten.
10 And I took the little scroll from the hand of the angel and ate it. It was sweet as honey in my mouth, but when I had eaten it my stomach was made bitter.
