God uses the words morning cloud
and dew
to characterize their love. Often in Israel, due to the dew and mist, the land is wet for a short while early in the morning. But as soon as the sun rises, it disappears. The love of God’s people disappears as quickly as that morning dew. In fact, it means very little. Disappointment resounds in those words of God.
4 What shall I do with you, O Ephraim? What shall I do with you, O Judah? Your love is like a morning cloud, like the dew that goes early away.
