What was he thinking that he would do such a strange and terrible thing? He considered that God was able to bring him back from the dead. Abraham had already believed and experienced that God could give live in death when he received Isaac in a very old age (see Romans 4:17 where it is written that Abraham believed in God “who gives life to the dead and calls into existence”).
