Paul’s third denial is that he did not seek honour from people. The Greek word here translated honour
is the word δόξα/doxa, variously translated as praise
(NIV), glory
(ESV), honour
(REB). It refers here to the high status that may be ascribed to a person on the basis of qualities that are valued by society, and is most helpfully translated as honour.
1,2,3
6 Nor did we seek glory from people, whether from you or from others, though we could have made demands as apostles of Christ.
