Why is Abraham important to us?

Genesis 11:27 (ESV)

27 Now these are the generations of Terah. Terah fathered Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran fathered Lot.

Biological Abraham is the father of the Jews. He is also a father in another way: he is the father of all believers from all over the world and in all ages. All the people who follow him in faith are children of Abraham (Romans 4:11–12 and Galatians 3:7). The way in which he believed during his whole life is an example to us and teaches us to believe today. Through Abraham’s life, God showed us what it means to be a believer, to live with God and his Word, to trust him, even if you do not understand why certain things happen (or do not happen).
