Where the heretics were devoid of the Spirit, the church is marked by the possession of the Spirit and communion with God through his agency. Prayer in the Spirit refers to prayer that is guided or controlled by the Spirit,1 prayer in keeping with what God the Holy Spirit has revealed (for example, Luke 11:2–4).
