Sermon Goal of Jude 1:4-10

Jude 1:4–10 (ESV)

4 For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

The book of Jude was written to call Christian believers to action, the action of contending for the faith once for all delivered. Jude wanted believers to realise that they must take certain steps in order to ensure that the faith is not changed or edited. Your sermon will explain how the false teachers of Jude’s day were changing the faith, how they used grace as an excuse to indulge their sinful desires. From the example of history you will show how this kind of teaching has been seen in the past and that it only resulted in judgment for those who were taken in with it. You will encourage Christian believers not to fall for those who use God’s love as a motive for disobedience to his revealed will (the commandments).
