Even before the creation of the world, God had determined a plan of salvation that would rest on the death of his Son. At the right time, he had brought this plan to pass and had revealed it to the apostles (see also Romans 16:25; Ephesians 1:4–6; Ephesians 3:3–5; Colossians 1:26–27). This, Paul says, is to the apostles’ glory! The apostles have received a great honour, being chosen by God to take his message of salvation into the world.
7 But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glory.
