The unrighteous (in other words, unbelievers; see 1 Corinthians 6:1, 1 Corinthians 6:6) will not inherit the kingdom of God. Paul gives a list of ten kinds of unrighteous
people whom one could expect to find in pagan society.
The fact that this list (like the lists in 1 Corinthians 5:10–11) starts with sexually immoral people (pornoi) is probably due to hold that sexual immorality has on the Corinthian church itself.
The phrase men who practise homosexuality
in the ESV actually represents two Greek words (and two separate items on Paul’s list). These words are: the soft
(malakoi) and the homosexual
(arsenokoitai).
The first word was commonly used to refer to the (mostly younger) man who would play the role of a woman in the homosexual relationship. With the second word, Paul is referring to the man who plays the active, masculine role in the relationship. The word arsenokoitai literally means, one who lies in bed with another man.
9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,
