A married believer must be devoted to his or her spouse, as well as to the Lord. The word worldly
is used in the sense of temporary
(see 1 Corinthians 7:30b). Married life may present a greater temptation to get carried away by the temporary concerns of this world (see Mark 4:19; Luke 21:34).
In contrast, an unmarried believer is free to devote himself or herself to the Lord alone.
