Who shall choose the king?

Deuteronomy 17:15 (ESV)

15 you may indeed set a king over you whom the LORD your God will choose. One from among your brothers you shall set as king over you. You may not put a foreigner over you, who is not your brother.

It will be different from the nations around them. In those nations a king conquers the throne, or the people choose him. But in Israel it is God who chooses the king. That was the case with the kings of Judah in David’s house (not in the kingdom of Israel of the ten tribes). God chose Saul (1 Samuel 9:1–27). God chose David, the youngest in the family (1 Samuel 16:1–23) in a special way. And also Solomon was the man of God’s choice (1 Chronicles 28:4–6).
