Deuteronomy 17:14–20 (ESV)

14 “When you come to the land that the LORD your God is giving you, and you possess it and dwell in it and then say, ‘I will set a king over me, like all the nations that are around me,’

Jesus, the great son of David, was the perfect King according to Deuteronomy 17:1–20. God has chosen him (Matthew 3:13–17) and his food was to do the will of his Father who sent him and to accomplish his work Psalm 40:8 (John 4:34).

Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father (Philippians 2:9–11).
