Uniqueness of Jeremiah's prophecies

Jeremiah 1:1–52:34 (ESV)

1 The words of Jeremiah, the son of Hilkiah, one of the priests who were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin,

Jeremiah announces both judgment and recovery. Both the destruction and the rebuilding receive a place. First there is the judgment of God’s people (exile, the end of the old covenant); then comes a new covenant, a new beginning. What makes the new covenant unique is that it is stronger than the old covenant and it can no longer be broken by the sins of the people. For judgment and restoration, read Jeremiah 1:10. For the new covenant, read Jeremiah 31:31–34.
