What does the attitude of Jephthah’s brothers in their request and negotiations show?
Judges 11:8 (ESV)
8And the elders of Gilead said to Jephthah, “That is why we have turned to you now, that you may go with us and fight against the Ammonites and be our head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.”
They show regret of their former heartless rejection. Their change in tone and attitude reflects the Israelites’ repentance toward the Lord as told in Judges 10:10 and Judges 10:15–16.
