We should notice that the Levites were given the same standard of living as the rest of God’s people. They were to live amongst the people in the same towns and villages. There was no need for them to have the biggest houses or the nicest fields. They had to live amongst God’s people in the same circumstances as everyone else.
1 Then the heads of the fathers’ houses of the Levites came to Eleazar the priest and to Joshua the son of Nun and to the heads of the fathers’ houses of the tribes of the people of Israel.
