The Hebrew word translated as cling
can also be translated as hold fast.
It conveys the idea of extreme closeness to God (Deuteronomy 4:4; Deuteronomy 10:20; Deuteronomy 11:22; Deuteronomy 13:4; Joshua 22:5; 2 Kings 18:6; Psalm 63:8). In fact, the Greek translation of the Old Testament (LXX) translates this word as glue or cement.1
8 but you shall cling to the LORD your God just as you have done to this day.
