1. Judges 8:32 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

In whose company does Gideon’s death put him?

Judges 8:32 (ESV)

32 And Gideon the son of Joash died in a good old age and was buried in the tomb of Joash his father, at Ophrah of the Abiezrites.

Gideon’s death in a good old age puts him in the company of only two others who had that privilege in the Old Testament: Abraham and David (Genesis 15:15; Genesis 25:8; 1 Chronicles 29:28). “This is a gracious assessment of Gideon’s good deeds and his faith in Yahweh, depicted at least in the initial stages of his Midianite campaign."1
