Why does the Spirit add “that they may rest from their labors”?

Revelation 14:13 (ESV)

13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Blessed indeed,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!”

Life in this fallen world is characterized by toil, sweat, pain, struggle (Genesis 3:17; Ecclesiastes 2:18). Satan’s rage after his expulsion from heaven only increases the burden of life. The blessedness, relief, happiness that those who die in the Lord experience will in no way be overshadowed by further toil; instead, they will experience only rest, peace, perfect contentment in the presence of the Lord. This contrasts with the followers of the beast, who “have no rest” (Revelation 14:11).
