The fire of the judgment of which God speaks is one that is not quenched. If one person who lived in Sodom could come to us today, what would his cry be? Awake! Awake! God is true. Hell is real. The torment never ends. Judgment will come. Repent! This would be the voice and cry should one from Sodom return today. God will vindicate his truth. God will eternally demonstrate its truthfulness and the fact that he—not sinners—is the definer of morality, and the fact that those who reject his truth and turn against it unto apostacy, will be judged. When these enter the assembly of God's people, and their presence is known, the instruction of Scripture is this—it was needful that I should write unto you and exhort you to earnestly contend for the faith. And though we may be a smaller minority in this wicked world all the time, let us remember that you and God make a majority in any situation. If God is for us, none can prevail against us. God will vindicate his Word. He will make his truth known, and he will expose the lies of those who pervert his Word. He will judge their sin. And the judgment of their sin—if they are unrepentant—is in fact an everlasting darkness, eternal chains, and fire that is not quenched.1

7 just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.
