The term translated here as “reaped” describes the entirety of the harvesting process and so depicts more than simply the action of the sickle in felling the crop. It involves tying the felled grain into sheaves, bringing those sheaves to the threshing floor, then threshing the crop to separate the grain from the straw and winnowing the grain to remove the chaff. The term catches the fulfillment of what Jesus had said would happen in passages as Matthew 3:12; Matthew 13:30, Matthew 13:40–42.
