John relates that he “gathered” them and “threw” them into the great winepress of the wrath of God.
In the Middle East of long ago, grapes were grown primarily to make wine. The process of winemaking involved separating the liquid from the solids. That was done by throwing the grapes into a press and then stamping the grapes with your feet so that the liquid flowed out the press into containers. From there the liquid entered a fermentation process while the pulp was discarded.
19 So the angel swung his sickle across the earth and gathered the grape harvest of the earth and threw it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.
