Some commentators understand the first virtue to be that of faith, in this instance referring to trust in God (see Mark 11:22; Romans 4:5; Hebrews 6:1; 1 Peter 1:21). Having come to know God through faith in Jesus Christ Christian believers must not sit back in laziness pretending as if they have a ticket to heaven
that gives freedom to sin and lethargy. Faith is not just a matter of obtaining salvation; it is a matter of life transformation.
