Peter encourages Christian believers to pursue godly living in light of God’s redemption and Christ Jesus’ future coming. They must not be taken in with the practices or teaching of the heretics who think that you can know Christ and continue to live as you please. Instead, they should improve their baptism by continuing to grow and mature,1 confident of life in Christ’s eternal kingdom.
5 For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge,
