Greed is the excessive desire to obtain more wealth and in this pursuit others are used to satisfy selfish desires. Being greedy, the heretics seek to enrich themselves. They see other believers as sources of gain to be exploited. Whether it is power or money is not specified, but their aim is selfish.1
3 And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.
