Daniel prays to the Lord just as he did before Darius’ edict to pray only to him for a month. Daniel’s enemies know what to watch for. They have been hiding near Daniel’s house. They see that he is praying with his face to Jerusalem as usual. They notice that he is praying to the Lord. These enemies have stayed near Daniel’s house for at least a whole day. In fact, they say to King Darius, Daniel, who is one of the exiles from Judah, pays no attention to you, O king, or the injunction you have signed, but makes his petition three times a day
(Daniel 6:13).
Daniel’s antagonists have seen and heard that Daniel continues to seek his strength from the Lord in spite of the royal decree. Daniel is a soldier in God’s army who confesses along with Paul, pray at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints
(Ephesians 6:18).
11 Then these men came by agreement and found Daniel making petition and plea before his God.
