Luke 6:32 (ESV)

32 “If you love those who love you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them.

This verse, like verses Luke 6:33–34, contains the call to let the light of the gospel shine by radiating grace. If one translates these verses more or less literally, Jesus says, “What kind of grace is it if you love/do mercies/lend money to people who also do the same to you?” As the disciples of Jesus you realize you have received a lot from God to which you are not entitled. It is God’s grace that Jesus is given to you. This goodness of God—this sense of grace—is revealed when you love people who do not love you. Such is God to you, without loving him he came to you in love (see 1 John 4:10). And so the citizens of the kingdom of Jesus behave in the same way towards other people.
