Luke 6:47 (ESV)

47 Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like:

Here Jesus introduces the parable he will tell in the following verses. This parable is intended as an illustration for Luke 6:46. It is good to remember that in this parable Jesus connects back to Luke 6:20. It is about the listener who must choose between two options (see the overview of Luke 6:20–23). Therefore, Jesus literally says, “Whoever comes to Me…”, which means it concerns every listener. Each listener is addressed. Everyone can and must choose.
