The only information we have of this Joseph is that he was a member of the council, and was looking for the kingdom of God. Presumably he did not agree with the decision to have Jesus condemned for blasphemy (Mark 14:53–65). He may have known Jesus personally and he certainly had great respect for Jesus, since he was willing to bury him in his family tomb.1
