Peter was the disciple who denied Jesus three times publicly (Mark 14:66–72). Even though he considered himself to be the bravest disciple (Mark 14:29), he was too ashamed to acknowledge Jesus even before a servant girl (Mark 14:67–68). No doubt, he was feeling very guilty and sad as a result of his failure. Peter needed to hear that Jesus wanted him to also be in Galilee since his faith had been shaken the most. Peter needed to hear that Jesus still cared for him, and that he was still included in the circle of disciples despite his denials.1
7 But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going before you to Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.”
