God’s scrutiny and judgment extending to every area of life

Zephaniah 1:7–13 (ESV)

7 Be silent before the Lord GOD! For the day of the LORD is near; the LORD has prepared a sacrifice and consecrated his guests.

All aspects of life are under God’s watchful eye. He is concerned about how we worship, how we function in our homes, churches, work settings. He will not let anything escape his scrutiny in judgment. (Proverbs 20:27; Ecclesiastes 12:14; Matthew 12:36; Romans 2:16; 1 Corinthians 4:5; 2 Corinthians 5:10; Hebrews 4:12–13).

One could also consider who are the complacent today, those who in effect say, The Lord will not do good, nor will he do ill, and thus attribute little significance to him, instead ascribing ultimate significance to idols, imagined gods. For them there is great danger
