What do the rebels admit by cursing "the God of heaven"?

Revelation 16:11 (ESV)

11 and cursed the God of heaven for their pain and sores. They did not repent of their deeds.

It is important to note how the object of their cursing is described; he is called “the God of heaven.” One might expect that they would curse the angel who poured out the bowl on the throne of their hero. By cursing “the God of heaven” they admit that the angel is servant of God, simply obeying instructions. More, behind the throne of the beast was the dragon—who had been thrown out of heaven (Revelation 12:7–9). God himself was the ultimate object of their frustration and so they curse him.
