The Bible affirms that mankind was made a little lower than the heavenly beings (Psalm 8:5). We are not as strong as angels; they have an exalted status.1 They are spiritual beings (Hebrews 1:14) who serve God in various different ways (Psalm 103:20; Hebrews 1:7), also as his messengers (Luke 1:19; Luke 2:8–14). In terms of strength, they can defeat human armies (2 Kings 19:35) and they use their power to protect God’s people (Psalm 34:7; Daniel 6:20, Daniel 6:23; Matthew 18:10; Acts 12:7; Psalm 34:4–5).
11 whereas angels, though greater in might and power, do not pronounce a blasphemous judgment against them before the Lord.
