It is one thing to engage in warfare to expand your territory; it is another to be so cruel. In today’s terms, Ammon was guilty of war crimes against humanity. They attacked the most defenceless of human beings—and they did that in what is supposed to be the safest place for any human being to be in—the womb…In God’s eyes it is one thing to use such cruelty to extend your borders into neighbouring nations; it is another thing to use such cruelty against his daughters and his little ones to extend your borders into his territory.
Today we can also think of the scourge of abortion that some governments push in some countries. It is awful—and our God sees that! Think also of the forced abortions in China—also and even especially upon God’s people struggling to live there. Our God sees that. And to our God that is not a minor matter…Our God does not take it lightly when things like this happen—particularly when it happens to his own people!
