The actions of a prophet, Jehu, son of Hanani are striking. It happens much more often in this time of kings that a prophet acts on behalf of God. Especially the book of 2 Chronicles talks about these men of God. They are often mentioned only briefly. A king desperately needs a prophet by his side, to correct him with God’s Word and law. (This is seen more often: David had Nathan as prophet, Saul had Samuel, Ahab was guided and criticized by Elijah, and there are many more examples.) Which partner, colleague, friend, or critic do we need to stay on track? Do we want to be corrected and helped? Do not be afraid of criticism; instead, ask for it.
