1. 2 Peter 3:2 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

Who are the apostles that Peter is referring to?

2 Peter 3:2 (ESV)

2 that you should remember the predictions of the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior through your apostles,

The apostles were spokesmen of Jesus Christ, their authoritative testimony about him ultimately coming from Christ himself (2 Peter 1:11; 2 Peter 2:20; 2 Peter 3:18). Peter refers specifically to your apostles, a reference to the men who first proclaimed the Christian message to the church to whom he is writing.1 Perhaps it could have been Paul (given their knowledge of Paul’s letters, 2 Peter 3:15)2 and Barnabas (since he was with Paul on his journeys in Asia Minor, Acts 14:14).
