Habakkuk 3:18 (ESV)

18 yet I will rejoice in the LORD; I will take joy in the God of my salvation.

Habakkuk’s response to being without fruit, food, and cattle was to rejoice in the Lord. He was able to be joyful because his satisfaction was rooted in the character and greatness of God. His joy was not an emotional outburst but rather a grateful attitude toward God because he knew that although they were deprived, they would be cared for by him. He would rejoice in God because of him being his Saviour who would rescue his people even in the time of the calamity that was about to fall upon them from his hand. By rejoicing in God, Habakkuk displayed that the righteous were to live by faith. His trust and confidence were in God, therefore he could be glad in him despite the hardships he had to endure.
